2008 Buddy Walk is Scheduled!

BE A BUDDY…

          BE A STAR!

Yes!  We have a confirmed venue for the 2008 Buddy Walk.  It will take place on:

Sunday - September 28th, 2008 from 1 - 5 pm at Acacia Park located at 50 Casa Del Fuego in Henderson.

The cross streets are Gibson Road and Las Palmas Entradas.  The park is easily accessible from the 95 off of Gibson.  Go south on Gibson and make a left at Las Palmas Entradas and it is not too far down.

This is an absolutely beautiful park with many features including the Demonstration Gardens featuring breathtaking desert landscaping, a playground area, two picnic pavilions and a water park feature.

The Buddy Walk is a friendly one mile advocacy walk to promote awareness, acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome.  It is also a fundraising event in which individuals, organizations and businesses form teams and raise money for their "buddies" with Down syndrome.  The event benefits the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada (DSOSN) and proceeds from this event go towards programs and services provided by DSOSN.  These include music, physical, speech, dance and yoga therapies, life skill seminars, and much more.

The Buddy Walk includes lots of fun, food and entertainment.  Pre-registered and Day-of registration begins at 1:00 pm.  Welcome, Announcements and Proclamations begin at 3:00 with a exercise warm-up beginning at 3:20 pm to kick-off the 3:30 pm walk.  After the walk, winning fundraising teams are announced and raffle prizes are drawn.

Pre-registered Individuals:  $15

Pre-registered Family:  $30 (up to 4 walkers)

Event Day Individual:  $20

Event Day Family:  $40
