Annual Fundraising Events

The DSOSN is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization fully funded by donations, private grants and fundraisers.  The organization does not receive any federal or state funding.  The organization holds the following major fundraising events annually to generate funds to fulfill its mission and provide programs and services.

Circle of Friends Annual Giving Campaign:  This event is our annual giving campaign reception and cultivation event that welcomes long-time friends of the DSOSN as well as new members to our family.  Everyone has the opportunity to learn more about the programs and services of the DSOSN as well as being given the opportunity to make a monetary contribution to help us in support of these prorgrams and services to our members. The date of the 2008 Circle of Friends will be announced after the first of the year.

The nationally-affiliated Buddy Walk:  This event is a celebration of the abilities of people affected by Down syndrome, and the coming together of family and community to promote a positive understanding of Down syndrome.  One look at the smiling faces of the participants makes it easy to understand why this event is a Las Vegas favorite.  The confirmed date for the 2008 Buddy Walk is Sunday - September 28th at Acacia Park in Henderson

The Festival of Trees and Lights.: The Festival of Trees and Lights is a result of Designers, both professional and novice, who donate their time, effort and financial support to create wonderful, one-of-a-kind holiday displays for the community to enjoy. This event is accompanied by a black-tie gala attended by the finest people anywhere, the supporters of DSOSN.  In 2008, the 20th annual Festival of Trees & Lights will take place on Thursday - November 20th at The Paris

The 11th Annual Down Syndrome Charity Golf Tournament : Corporate supporters, prominent business owners and entrepreneurs participate in the traditional shotgun-scramble for an enjoyable day of golfing and giving.  The 2008 Golf Tournament took place on Monday - May 19th, 2008 at the Arroro Golf Club at Red Rock.

Dimes for Down Syndrome: is a community service project for school age children.  Its purpose is to promote a positive understanding of Down syndrome within our community and to raise funds for the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada (DSOSN). This is coin drive in which children are asked to bring in their spare change: dimes, nickels, pennies, quarters and dollars to raise money for progams and services to the thousands of children and individuals affected by Down syndrome in our community.  The top fundraising class in each school wins a luncheon celebration sponsored by McDonalds, and each school can be eligible for other great prizes depending on their fundraising levels. This campaign is ongoing year round.  Schools can register to participate in the spring or the fall.  Interested schools can register online by clicking on the Dimes for Down Syndrome logo or by calling the office at 702-648-1990.

The DSOSN is always exploring additional ways to raise funds and welcomes all those who want to help us. Together, we can make a difference!
