The DSOSN-Las Vegas Buddy Walk is an annual event that promotes the interest and awareness of persons diagnosed with Down syndrome. This year, the DSOSN Buddy Walk will be held on Sunday, October 18th, at Town Square Las Vegas, from 8:00 am to 1pm. We need 50 Volunteers for various tasks, at different times throughout the event. Set-up will start at 6:00 am, and Break-down will start at 12:30 pm. Volunteers will be assigned to teams and crews, such as the Registration Team; Hospital Center Team; Set-up/Break-down Crews; Walk-Route Coordination Team; Raffle Tickets-Sales Team; Inflatable Sildes Monitoring Team; Resource Fair/Vendor Supporting Team, and various other miscellaneous duties/functions.

We are requesting that volunteers for the event sign up for a minimum of four hours, starting at 6am. Volunteers will be given a free T-Shirt and a lunch ticket. To guarantee shirt sizes, volunteers must register no later than September 1, 2026. A general orientation date will be announced for all Buddy Walk volunteers, and subsequent training will be provided by the team-leaders for the respective tasks/functions. We also need 30 volunteers to participate in our DSOSN Las Vegas Buddy Walk “Kick-Off” event, which will be on Saturday, August 29th, from 11am to 2pm, at Town Square. The purpose of this Kick-Off festive celebration is to promote the upcoming Buddy Walk event to the business owners/operators in Town Square. Volunteers will be assigned to a certain area of Town Square where they will deliver flyers and information sheets to the businesses, while encouraging them to support/participate in the Walk. All volunteers will be provided with a “retro-Buddy Walk t-shirt,” and refresehments will be served. Volunteers may sign up for both events (Kick-Off and main event in October).
