Buddy Walk is an annual event that promotes the interest and awareness of persons diagnosed with Down syndrome. This year, the DSOSN Buddy Walk will be held on Sunday, October 19th, at Town Square Las Vegas, from 8:00 am to 1pm. We need 50 Volunteers for various tasks, at different times throughout the event. Set-up will start at 6:00 am, and Break-down will start at 12:30 pm. Volunteers will be assigned to teams and crews, such as the set-up/break-down crews; traffic coordination/parking lot crew; walk-route monitoring team; registration team; volunteer scheduling/coordinating team; hospitality team; slides/bouncers monitoring crew; resource fair/vendor supporting team, and various other miscellaneous duties/functions. We are requesting that volunteers for the event sign up for a minimum of four hours, starting from 6am. Volunteers will be given a free T-Shirt and a ticket for a box lunch. To guarantee shirt sizes, volunteers must register no later than September 1, 2023. A general orientation date will be set for all Buddy Walk volunteers, and subsequent training will be provided by the team-leaders for the respective tasks. We also need 30 volunteers to participate in our DSOSN Las Vegas Buddy Walk “Kick-Off” event, which will be on Saturday, August 30th, from 11am to 2pm, at Town Square. The purpose of this Kick-Off event is to promote the upcoming Buddy Walk event to the business owners/operators in Town Square. Volunteers will be assigned to a certain area of Town Square where they will deliver flyers and information sheets to the businesses, while encouraging them to support/participate in the Walk. All volunteers will be provided with a “retro-Buddy Walk t-shirt,” and refresehments will be served. Volunteers may sign up for both events (Kick-Off and main event in October).
